For this program, plan to spend 30-60 minutes with us to: 

  • Have our Educator introduce you to the program, Stinger Square, and Let's Go Outdoors
  • Engage you and/or your family in a fun read-along, read-aloud, or group role-play of the book
  • *Give you FREE Longwood Gardens tickets (family 4-pack) OR book (guaranteed with pre-registration OR while supplies last)
  • Plant seeds and learn about gardens through the activities provided as part of this program

NOTE: Staggered start times allow for small(er) group readings and time to learn more about seed planting and gardens.  By choosing a time, it helps our Educator prepare accordingly.  However, you are more than welcome to show up earlier or stay later than your chosen time.

Let’s Go Outdoors is a part of Longwood Gardens’ Community Read - a program designed to encourage reading for pleasure. This year’s book explores how food connects people to each other and the world of plants and gardening. Drop by Stinger Square for a free seed planting activity and garden-themed arts and crafts anytime between 12:30-2:30pm (supplies provided)! Each person will get to plant their own veggie seeds to bring home with them. Families that participate can also opt to take home one of the books offered OR a family pass (good for four) to Longwood Gardens (guaranteed with pre-registration or while supplies last).
